The centre of the Christian Faith can be found in what we believe about Jesus.  The Bible tells us that God loves us so much that he became the man Jesus to teach us how to live, to die for us, and to rise again.  This message is known as the good news or ‘the gospel’.  It is often summed up by the following verse:

'For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life' (John 3:16, NIV)

Though we are meant to keep God’s commands, no one except Jesus has ever kept all of them fully.  In the Bible, our failure to keep God’s commands is called sin.  When Jesus died on the cross, he took upon himself all the guilt for our sin so that we might be forgiven by God and set free to live in a relationship with him.  When we put our trust in Jesus, we turn away from our sins, ask for his forgiveness, and accept him as our Lord and Saviour.  We are then able to receive God's forgiveness and become children of the Heavenly Father.
