Live by faith - Love through action
Live by faith
11 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.2 For by it the people
of old received their commendation.3 By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things
that are visible.
12 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely,
and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right
hand of the throne of God.
From Hebrews 11 & 12, English Standard Version (ESV)
Love through action
16 We know love by this, that he laid down his life for us—and we ought to lay down our lives
for one another. 17 How does God’s love abide in anyone who has the world’s goods and sees a brother or sister in need and yet refuses help? 18 Little children, let us love,
not in word or speech, but in truth and action.
14 My friends, what good is it for one of you to say that you have faith if your actions do not prove
it? Can that faith save you? 15 Suppose there are brothers or sisters who need clothes and don't have enough to eat. 16 What good is there in your saying to them, “God bless you! Keep
warm and eat well!”—if you don't give them the necessities of life? 17 So it is with faith: if it is alone and includes no actions, then it is dead. 18 But someone will say, “One
person has faith, another has actions.” My answer is, “Show me how anyone can have faith without actions. I will show you my faith by my actions.”
